Privacy Policy
TRoyTEL™ is a messenger run by TRoy Group™ (Ertan Govdeli, trading as TROYGO, ABN 30 302 098 137, Northern Territory, Australia). This page explains what we collect, why, who else handles it, and how you can delete it. Questions: ertangovdeli@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Account details if you register: your email address, display name, optional handle, status message and avatar link, and a sign-in ID created by Firebase Authentication (Google). If you use Google sign-in, Google gives us your name and email.
- Website visitors who use the chat bubble on a TRoy Group company site: a random anonymous ID and the optional name you type. No registration is needed.
- Messages and activity: the messages you send and receive, call invitation links, times, who sent them, contacts you add, people you block, and reports you file.
- Technical data: your IP address and basic request details are processed by Cloudflare when you use the site or app, to deliver it and protect it from abuse.
We do not run advertising or analytics trackers, and we do not sell your information.
Why we use it
To run the messenger (sign you in, deliver messages, show your buddy list), to let a company's team reply to your website enquiry, to keep the service safe (rate limits, blocking, reports) and to answer your requests.
Who can see your messages
- The people in the conversation.
- For a website chat with a TRoy Group company (TRoyMAR, TRoyGO, TRoyMEDIA, TRoyAI, TRoyTRADE), that company's staff who handle the inbox.
- TRoyTEL administrators, who can technically read stored messages when needed to investigate a report, keep the service secure or meet a legal duty.
TRoyTEL is not end-to-end encrypted. Messages are encrypted in transit (HTTPS/WSS) and the providers below encrypt stored data, but we and our infrastructure providers can access them. Do not send passwords, card numbers or other highly sensitive information.
Who else handles data
- Google Firebase Authentication handles sign-in (Google Privacy Policy).
- Cloudflare hosts the app and stores our database (Cloudflare Privacy Policy). Data may be processed in countries outside Australia.
- Jitsi Meet (meet.jit.si, operated by 8x8) carries voice and video when you press Call. We only store the call link; call media does not pass through our servers and is governed by Jitsi's privacy notice.
Browser storage
We use your browser's local storage and the Firebase sign-in session to keep you signed in and to remember small things such as your chat name. We do not use tracking cookies.
How long we keep it
Messages and account details are kept until you delete your account or ask us to delete them. When you delete your account, your profile, contacts, blocks and messages are removed from our database straight away. Reports you made or that were made about you may be kept for as long as needed to keep the service safe. Short-term technical logs are kept by Cloudflare under its own policy.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account in the app (menu ⋯ → Delete my account) or see how to request deletion.
- Ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct it, by emailing us.
- Block or report anyone from the chat window.
- Under the Australian Privacy Principles you may complain to us first and then to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
Children
TRoyTEL is for people aged 13 and over. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, tell us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above. Material changes will also be shown in the app.
